Save yourself from computer screen light
If you work on your computer in office or at home for long hours, you may be aware of the damage to our eyes. I will share a few tips in this post to save your eyes from the harmful effects of the computer screen.
Eyes are probably one of the most sensitive and vital organ of the human body and staring bright computer screen for long hours is known to cause issues with eyesight. Frequent headache, blurred vision, watery eyes are all indicators of the side effects caused by staring the screen for long time. If you are facing a similar problem then the tips mentioned in this post can definitely be of great use to you.
1. Stay away
Stay 16" - 30" away from the screen: Computer or Laptop, no matter whether the screen size is 15.6" or 23", make sure you keep it at least 16" away from eyes.2. Use blue light filter
The only things horrible about smartphones, tablets and laptops is that, apart from bring weak, they are portable. You can carry these devices to your bed and work for few extra hours. If you are among those who use laptop even at night, blue light filter application is a must have. Screens emit blue light and our brains are hardwired to associate blue light with day light. That is the reason why people have problems sleeping right after watching TV, or using smartphones and laptops at night. Blue light filter/ Night light is an inbuilt feature in Windows 10 Redstone 1709 Fall creator's edition and in Android 7.1.1 and above.3. Anti glare glasses
Anti glare computer glasses are available on online shopping sites. I recommend putting on computer goggles if you work for over 5 hours a day on your computer.4. Correct posture
Sit straight in front of the computer. Make sure the screen is perfectly in front of you. Avoid using laptop on bed. At the time of writing this article, I am not sitting properly, but if you can maintain good posture, you won't face back pain later on.5. Blink
While using computer/mobile screen, blink a lot. This prevents eyes from drying up. If your eyes dry up frequently, consult a doctor and get the recommended eye drops.6. Exercise
- Rub the palm of your hands vigorously, close your eyes and hold your palm over eyelids. Let your eyes feel the warmth and relax in the darkness.
- Blink your eyes quickly 10-15 times, close your eyes for 20 seconds, repeat this 4-5 times.
- Look at the right hand side and without moving your head, shift your vision from right to left side.
- Hold a pencil straight in front of you. Focus on the tip. Now bring the pencil near you. Pause for a second and gradually take it away.
7. Good sleep
Not to sound like your mummy, but getting at least 7-8 hours of sleep is necessary for healthy eyes.8. Healthy food habits
Ear carrots, papaya, apple jam, green leafy vegetables, almonds, fennel and a lot of food rich in Vitamin A and iron.9. Walk barefoot
If you are luck enough to have a garden at your home or nearby, go for a walk barefoot in early morning. Walking barefoot on tender grass with dew drops on it is know to improve eyesight.10. Take breaks
Don't stare the screen for over 30 minutes. Take a break for few minutes after using computer or mobile for half an hour.11. Use good cosmetics
